PAST AWARD WINNERS

King Abdullah Financial District

2023 – Electronic Design Group

King Abdullah Financial District | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia

The King Abdullah Financial District project is a large-scale development project that encompasses 1.6 million square meters of space. The development includes 86 towers, which comprise a mix of residential, commercial, and office buildings, a large public realm (public parks, plazas, and other open spaces), a metro station, a conference center, and retail areas. It is a complex and diverse environment developing into a city within a city where people can live and work while enjoying first class leisure, sport, entertainment, retail, and hospitality facilities.

Electronic Design Group was the physical security lead consultant for this project. The team prepared the Security Concept of Design (SCD), the Security Concept of Operations (SECONOPS), Security Risk Assessment, Blast Impact Analysis, Security Master Plan, Security Evacuation Plan & Procedure, Emergency Response Plan & Procedures, Emergency Contingency Planning, Public Realm Security Detailed Design, Security Crisis Management Plan (CMP), Security Business Continuity Plan (BCP), all Security Systems specifications, Main Control and Command Center and its DR , Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and the Tender Package that also covered all the digital communication infrastructure.

By designing and implementing a comprehensive security plan, the client ensured that the district is protected against a range of threats, including terrorism, crime, and vandalism. This provides peace of mind to residents, workers, and visitors, and helps to create a more stable and prosperous environment for businesses and other organizations.

Advanced Data Risk Management

2022 – Advanced Data Risk Management (ADRM)

One Post Office Square | Boston, Massachusetts

One Post Office Square in downtown Boston contained a 41-story, 515-foot-tall multitenant office tower, and a 6-story garage with 8 levels of parking and 371 spaces. The upgrades to the office tower included the replacement of the existing façade with a glass curtain wall from the ground level to level 30, an overclad system between levels 31 and 38, along with the addition of mid-level and roof level attractions, and the addition of infill areas below existing cantilevered corners. The pre-existing parking structure and associated spaces was demolished and replaced with a new 18 story structure with ground floor retail and drop-off for an automated parking garage.

ADRM performed security system design, bid and build services, as well as managed services for the access control, video, visitor management, turnstiles, and monitoring stations. ADRM was retained by the project manager, JLL., and worked closely with the project team to develop a security Concept of Operations. They worked with the Architect to understand the flow of the building and the architectural elements. They retained the services of the integrator and formed a tight partnership with the installation and project management team.

One Post Office Square is now a very well secured building with advanced and functional security technology. The tenants and visitors enjoy the ability to use their mobile devices as access credentials. The security staff have easy to use and intuitive systems with alarm events initiating camera call up upon alarm. The client has the assurance that the systems will be properly maintained and supported through the managed services contract with ADRM.

Vantage Technology Consulting Group

2020-2021 – Business Protection Specialists

Froedtert Hospital | Wauwatosa, Wisconsin

Froedtert Hospital is a level one academic medical center located in Milwaukee, WI. They have over 35,000 discharges, 800,000 ambulatory visits, 75,000 emergency room visits and about 7,500 cars per day. In 2018 Froedtert Hospital initiated a national search for an independent physical security consultant to assess risk, make recommendations and support a business case to executive leadership for an unprecedented access management program in a healthcare setting.

The project evolved from manually locking down perimeter doors, developing a new visitor policy, adding more visible patrols, limiting entrance points after hours and security presence after hours in lobbies. The goal of this project was to control the entire environment 24x7 in an effort to reduce the current concerns that arise due to the conventional open concept of healthcare facilities.

Ultimately, the main benefit was the ability to control the visitor access to the hospital and have the ability to identify them. The hospital is no longer an open facility where anyone can come and go and large crowds gather. The visitor guidelines are controlled, and security is able to regulate unwanted visitors. The implementation of Access Management has made Froedtert Hospital a safer place for patients, visitors, and staff.

Vantage Technology Consulting Group

2019 – Vantage Technology Consulting Group

Bluebeam, Inc. Headquarters | Pasadena, California

Bluebeam, Inc. was launched in 2002, and adoption of its software tools by the worldwide AEC community has grown steadily ever since. In January, 2019, the security design was completed for Bluebeam's HQ relocation from a multi-tenant facility to a single-tenant existing 50,000 sq. ft. facility in Pasadena, CA, with a ground floor, second floor, roof, surface parking, and an adjacent parking structure. This was a fast-paced project that required not only system design, but high-level consulting to identify the adequate operational requirements of the systems, which would then inform the technical requirements.

The tenant improvement project for the corporate office required a full interior renovation, with security systems to protect their new facility. Moving to a single-tenant facility required Bluebeam to take ownership of the security processes and systems - a change from their previous mode of operation in which the building landlord provided those services. The client required guidance in identifying the security system requirements and operational considerations for this type of facility. The final project's security scope included video surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems which were integrated with one another to provide system efficiencies for managing and monitoring the activity.

DVS Security

2018 - DVS Security

Little Caesars Arena | Detroit

DVS, a division of Ross & Baruzzini, was hired as the security consultant and engineer for the new Little Caesars Arena in downtown Detroit, MI. The new state-of-the-art arena is the new home of the Detroit Red Wings (NHL) and Detroit Pistons (NBA). The main arena structure is 785,000 sq. ft. and includes 21,000 seats. The new arena is the anchor project for a new 50 block redevelopment in downtown Detroit, referred to as the "The District Detroit".

As the Security Consultant and Engineer for the arena, DVS was tasked with designing electronic security and developing physical security protective measures that supported the programmatic and architectural elements of the arena's overall design. This included the main arena structure, surrounding site and plaza, four commercial and residential buildings, and parking structure. DVS services for the project included recommendations for site physical security measures, a vehicle threat vector analysis (through sub-consultant), the design of site-wide access control, intrusion detection, video surveillance, emergency intercom, integrated suite access control, and visitor management systems.

Mead and Hunt

2017 - Mead & Hunt

Sedgwick County Prison | Kansas

At 468,000 SF and 1,200 beds, the Sedgwick County ADF is the largest correctional facility in the state of Kansas. More than 25 years old, the original proprietary was failing, and the obsolete security system was in serious need of an upgrade and required replacement.

This project involved a complete upgrade and replacement of existing Simplex jail security system while making effective reuse of the existing cable infrastructure. A complete replacement of the existing video surveillance system implemented an upgrade from analog to advanced digital system technology. Operational liabilities were reduced through the addition/update of over 500 surveillance cameras with a video storage system which exceeds 90 days.

Jeff Pronschinske was the project manager and the designer of the Division 11 Detention Equipment and Division 28 Security Electronics systems.
